What Is NHS Dental Care
NHS dental care offers everyone access to quality care at an exceptional price.
To make sure that everyone can get quality dental care at an affordable price, we are happy to offer NHS dentistry at Polegate Dental Practice. The cost of dental care provided through the NHS is quite affordable and the treatment costs are straightforward.
There is only one payment required for each treatment plan, and it is for the highest therapy band necessary. Everything you need to maintain your teeth and gums healthy and happy is available, from regular examinations to root canal therapy.
Who Is Entitled to NHS Treatment?
Even if you are registered as a private patient, you are still entitled to receive treatment under the NHS. Unless you are eligible for free NHS dental treatment, the standard NHS band charges will apply. NHS dental care is provided at no cost if the following applies:
- Children and young People in Full-Time Education: You are entitled to free NHS dental care if you are under 18, or under 19 and studying full-time at school or college.
- NHS hospital dental treatment: Dental treatment is free if it is carried out by an NHS hospital dentist as part of your care while being treated in an NHS hospital.
- Pregnancy and recent childbirth: You qualify for free NHS dental care during pregnancy and for up to 12 months after your baby is born.
- Low-Income and benefit-based entitlement: Free NHS dental treatment is available if you are under 20 and dependent on someone receiving low-income benefits, or if you receive qualifying low-income benefits yourself.
NHS Pricing Bands
Band One
This includes an examination, diagnosis (such as x-rays), counselling on how to avoid difficulties in the future, and, if necessary, a scale and polish. Additionally, urgent care, which requires an immediate appointment with a dentist, costs £27.40.
Band Two
This includes everything mentioned in Band 1 above as well as any additional care, such as fillings, root canals, or tooth extractions, if necessary.
Band Three
This includes everything mentioned in Bands 1 and 2 above in addition to crowns, bridges, or dentures.
